The Great English Summer Getaway....

Summer is here, and with the prospect of BBQ weather and volatile exchange rates, no wonder so many people are choosing to holiday in England.

 

The ‘staycation’, it seems is here to stay. Last year 37 million people decided to stay put, choosing to explore our stunning shores. And who can blame them, with beaches to rival Europe, outstanding areas of natural beauty and historical sites galore.  Why not do it in a Retro VW Campervan?

 

Whether a regular holiday-maker in England or one of those choosing to staycation for the first time in a while, have you given any thought to your journey from home to your holiday destination?

As the summer season begins, the Camp in a VDub team are always very interested to know the varied destinations of our Customers and the camper vans they have hired.

Favourite places to visit include the New Forest and further afield to Dorset but as the summer begins so do the visits to Devon and Cornwall.  We are often asked for help to plan itineraries and make recommendations on Campsites, so in addition to our membership to the Camping and Caravanning Club which provides an extensive list of campsites, we also provide details on places to visit from our Favourites page on the website.

"Dear Daisy, I was wondering if you are free on the 23rd of July from 10ish to Monday 26th? Im supposed to be the wedding car for my sisters big day, however someone crashed into me last week, apparently I was in their 'blind spot'. They smashed me up good and proper and desperately don't want to let her down for the big day and she would love bugjam at Santapod on sunday, anyway, are you available to hire for the dates above, or maybe a siblings of yours? Hope you can help?"

Campervans rock it at the Glastonbury Festival

The entire Campervan fleet at CampinaVDub were booked very early in the year to secure their camping slot at the recent Glastonbury Festival held at Worth Farm, Pilton, Wiltshire. 

We  had groups of friends book two them, clients coming in from the USA to attend the music festival.  One couple are slowly booking their way through the different retro VW Campers in the fleet, having had Wilf back in 2009 and this year deciding to take the rather bright Patsy out to the glitzy event.  They have made a booking already for Daisy next year so get in early should you want to enjoy the experience of Glastonbury 2011 in a retro VW Campervan.

British Leisure Show 2011 - a much bigger campinaVDub stand!!

The Organisers of the British Leisure Show are delighted to be welcoming back a range of Exhibitors to the 2011 show which will be held at The Royal Windsor Race Course on Friday 11th to Sunday 13th March.

Not only are these Exhibitors back, but they're also taking bigger stands in the Caravan & Camping Zone which will this year feature at the heart of the Racecourse. 

We are looking forward to seeing PJ Camping with a fantastically comprehensive range of tents and camping equipment, alongside campinaVDub.co.ukwho will be offering visitors a superb opportunity to experience the adventure of exploring and camping in the great outdoors, in a brand new retro VW Type 2 Campervan.

Isle of Wight Festival 2010

The Team at campinaVDub like putting their money where their mouth is and going to festivals is no exception!  We try out the retro VW Campervan Hire experience so we get a full taste of what is on offer to our Clients! 

MD Fiona and her partner Mike had been invited to attend the Isle of Wight Festival, held in Newport between June 11th - 13th this year with friends who have a place on the Island. 

The closer the date got, the more Mike hankered after attending in a campervan.  A quick check of the booking system showed that Daisy was free that weekend so the plan was hatched to attend.  Ferry space was a bit tight but a crossing was secured on the Thursday afternoon and the rather steep cost of £250 paid to park a VW Campervan in the field paid.

Now VDub Daisy likes a party and what a party was held on the crossing from Southampton to East Cowes - lots of horn tooting!

Campervan competition winner announced

The CampinaVDub Team held a free to enter competition at the British Leisure Show held at The Royal Windsor Race Course on Friday 19th March to Sunday 21st March 2010.

We promised to announce the winner of the free prize draw where the winning entry could win one lucky person a weekend away in one of the retro campervans.

Here is it - the winner of the free weekend away in one of our campervans is Bridget Hone from Maidenhead.  When we called her yesterday evening she said the classical line 'Oh, I never win anything that's fantastic news!'  Well now she has and she is now planning her trip courtesy of CampinaVDub.

Thank you once again to everyone who came to see us and our camper vans that are available for all inclusive hire throughout the year from our base in Surrey, just 10 minutes from junction of the M3.

CampinaVDub celebrate their 1st Birthday

Well it hardly seems like a year has passed! 

What fun we have had hiring out our retro VW Campervans since the conception of CampinaVDub in the spring of last year.

They have travelled the British Isles bringing such joy to so many people and we have had the opportunity to visit many a VW Camper Show along the way.  We have met some great people on our travels and also Clients who have rented one of our retro camper vans. 

We have made an exhibition of ourselves at many an event from large VW shows to local garden centres and shopping centres.

CampinaVDub at the British Leisure Show

The CampinaVDub Team had a really busy weekend at the recent British Leisure Show held at The Royal Windsor Race Course on Friday 19th March to Sunday 21st March 2010.

Friday was a fairly brisk trading day, Saturday morning a little slower with the lovely British weather proving to be a bit challenging but after all we were at an outdoor leisure show!  Retro VW Campervans Patsy and Daisy were in fine shape to woo the stand visitors with their many comfortable features  permitting exploring the great outdoors easier than camping.

The show had over 21,000 visitors with over 11,000 on the Sunday which explains why poor Mike lost his voice after talking non stop to potential customers for three days.  Our competition to win a weekend in one of our campervans was very well supported as were the 1,000 lollipops! 

Thank you to everyone who came to see us and our campervans that are available for all inclusive hire throughout the year from our base in Surrey, just 10 minutes from junction of the M3. 

Squeezing a lot into a year

We have had a busy 9 months at CampinaVDub since the concept was born in Spring 2009. 

We have had loads of fantastic people hire our retro VW camper vans and head off to explore the great outdoors and we thank them all!

The retro campervans have travelled to many corners of the UK and Continental Europe and lucky Wilf went to Spain to play in the sand with four female companions in the summer.  He came back with a big grin on his face and a fair amount of sand too!

Our client handovers are always fun.  The in-house joke is that the fantastic retro camper vans have everything in them apart from a lemon squeezer!

Campervans supporting Help for Heroes

A cold December morning.  Cold and crisp and the CampinaVDub Team are up and about taking part in The Grim Challenge 2009.   The race is a gruelling off road trek over 8 miles across the Army's vehicle testing tracks in Aldershot.  Run, wade, crawl, swim, walk, 6,500 mad runners cannot be wrong.

To be honest, it was CampinaVDub Team Member, Rachel who was doing the running with her friend Denise and a couple of equally crazy Army mates.

The CampinaVDub Team have been busy promoting the campervan hire concept over the winter months and this included a trip to a local Notcutts Garden Centre with Wilf and Daisy.

Remembrance Day and Armistice Day are important dates in the global diary.  The day when we parade and fall silent for two minutes to remember the fallen heroes of the many wars and conflicts that we have entered into.

Remembrance Day and the Two Minute Silence have been observed since the end of the First World War, but their relevance remains undiminished. When we bow our heads in reflection, we remember those who fought for our freedom during the two World Wars. But we also mourn and honour those who have lost their lives in more recent conflicts. Today, with troops on duty in Afghanistan and other trouble spots around the world, Remembrance, and this two minute tribute, are as important as ever.

We have been having a bit of an Indian Summer of late, and what better way of seeing the wonderful English countryside than in a VW Campervan!   

Bright and sunny days, walking through the leaves with your dog in the woods or on the beach.  Two of our campervans are dog friendly - someting that we are very passionate about.

Take advantage of the warm weather ahead of the cold frosty nights that will no doubt arrive soon.
